I ride friction for this very reason. the quality just isn' there..you gotta buy all the upgrades to make the kits reliable..by the time your done you might as well just buy a reliable kit right outta the box and install it and ride..not sit there fix it all the time. i have 6,000miles on my kit and haven't been let pedaling one time..very low maintenance no clutch one bolt hold's the entire kit on..sounds good to me! I hate to see ya give up motorized biking over this..Its a great hobby..check out some friction drive kits..type friction drive bike kit in google theres a couple out there..good luck

Hang in their H.R. Quality is hit and miss. My sons bike has has it's share if issues too. It was a learning experience to built it. Sorry to say for some of us, getting the reliability up to snuff can also be a learning experience.

I'd rather not do a MB if friction drive is the only road to reliability. No other reason then it's simply not the look I care to have on my own bike.

sorry to hear that all of that is easy to fix though
the motor mount needs new bolts out of the box we say this all the time explaine how it broke off we will guide you to fix it
the bad gasket only requires you take the jug off and ether replace the gasket or seal it with RVT silicone black
the tensioner depending on how it "failed" you probibly need a new one or a work around so you dont need it any more like grinding out the back mount till you can take a link out or shimming it to make the length perfect

2 stroke kits are something to work on you will have issues with it at first till you have everything that can go wrong ironed out as you said its made in china

alright lemme back story this, im 18, i have severe crohns disease, im not able to work right now because of my ailments, I'm also not eligible for disability. I have literally 0 dollars to my name, i went searching on craigslist looking to trade all of my tools for something to get around on. I've had these bikes before, just as a toy though. i figure at 50mpg at the worst i can scrounge for gas so i can get to doctors appointments and such. I found a guy with 4 of these and offered my tools, he declined but offered for me to come work for him, i told him i may have to leave early because im sick, he said thats alright just as long as i make an effort. so I agreed. I agreed to put my self in a painful position because im living with my mother right now and she works 50 miles away and cant always get me to appointments, she also pays all my docor bills and houses me and my brother. so i can't just get a kit out of the box. I also cant afford to replace anything, i have to make do with nothing at all at this point. maybe someday ill have my ilness in check and finances to play with but for now i have to cut my losses and find something more reliable

Some people like the chain drive look and some like the friction look to each his own!

do you think i could sell the motor whole bike for enough to buy a 4 stroke kit? i cant get my license because of the disease so i kinda have to rely on alternatives

I know the position you are in.
I also have crohns/ ulcerative colotis, I was really sick from Agust up untill early november. I was trying to work most of the time but my body could not handle the meds and lack of nutrients from not eating good

My boss saw how I was struggling but willing to work so we worked something out when I was ready to return

My bike were neglected for those two months and so was everything around me

I feel much better now, bowls are normal and I was able to shake off the flu ... Now I'm just hoping it doesn't come back... Now I'm just catching up with everything, bikes, school, friends, family... Life in general

I'll be willing to help you with small parts you might need, me along with a friend have some spare used parts that I might be able to send you

Studs, tensioners, and other miscellaneous parts...

Hope you feel better, and hopefully you can get your ride going to get to your docs appointments

I will be glad to pay for the parts to make HRs bike run again, if a vendor here has the parts PM me and we can make arrangements to get him back on the road.

Lupe, you are the man!!! I wish I could help but I'm disabled, too.

HR, you tried SSI, right? Isn't Crohn's permanent? If it is then check for a Gov. list of ailements that qualify. I just have Carpel Tunnel in both wrists but is on the list of disabilities covered by SSI. In fact I got my SSI after only a 4 month wait, about 1/5th the time I've heard for others, I have no idea why. My X and sister-in-law both were over 20 months for bad back where they both had surgery and my X has to go through again :(

Hang in there, dude, things will get better...we hope and pray. :)

wow, the generosity on this forum is amazing. complete strangers on the internet are willing to fix my bike, I don't even know what to say.
I'm new to this hobby and i have no idea what parts you are talking about but by the research i have done the parts for this things are available from various places, find out what you need for sure and let me know, will order them with your address so you can get riding asap. This is not charity, this is paying forward, a lot of people has helped me along the way since i was born, most of them wanted the same thing for payment, for me to help someone else without expecting anything in return. I still have faith in mankind.

Dave, sorry to hear you have problems!
I had carpal tunnel surgery done 3 years ago, it did not work so i just ignore it, also have 5 disks bulging pinching some nerves, my left leg and arm are always numb and tingling, have seen 5 specialists but no one has been able to help, the strange thing is that i can walk and ride just fine, i ride my triumph rocket3 up to 1000 miles at the time with only minor discomfort, the docs can't figure out how i'm not in bed in extreme pain, i asked them if i need to quit riding and they say if no discomfort is present i can do whatever i want, i took that as a second chance and i decided to take full advantage of it, i plan on getting to the grave (when time comes which i hope is loooong time from now) with a fully used body and sayin whooohoooo, what a ride!!!!
