Was this a foam (PU) inner tube in a common tire, or a foam (polyurethane) tire?
Do you mean the slime "super tubes" or slime branded tires?
I have some Slime branded tires (made by Love/chinese tire maker), and they are ok offroad, but a mud tread not made for roads. I have 4 of them though and they are THICK, so I plan to hack the knobs off one pair for heavy duty slicks.

when i bought my mtn bike the PO had put one in the front tire didnt notice until i couldnt find the valve stem i prefer the extra thick rubber silime tires though .
they do work and i havent noticed anything negative about it .
