Hello, everyone keeps saying you need an M2 license. The CHP website has it writ M2 endorsement. Do they mean the same thing? or is the M2 endorsement all I need where the CHP is concerned and M2 license everywhere else?

its the same thing, just go to the DMV take the written test $28 and you have a permit for a year . if you decide you want and are ready you can take the skills test to get the actual endoursement M2 within that year. you ride with the permit except at night.
You will also need to fill out form 320 (print from online form) just google dmv form 320, fill it out and send 19 bucks with it for a california moped plate and vehicle registration.

also they are cracking down on having "DOT" helmets in Cali.
there are several poeple here saying this is all un-needed but they are starting to ask for all this

an "endorsement" means they add it onto your class "c" regular license, so you can drive your car and your bike.

a "license" is if you don't have a class "c" to drive a car, so you just get the M2 (or M1, the permit's for both.) and then you can't drive a car, only your bike.
