When you build a motorized bike with a kid's bike frame you have a lot of problems. A big one is the chain ring. It is about 6inches in diameter way too small. When the motor slows down I have to wait until it is very slow before you can help by pedaling.

I almost always change the ring to a bigger one. On my newest bike I picked up a 52 tooth ring, That mutha is big. I had to beat the devil out of my frame to make clearance for it. Now if the motor dies or even gets really low on power the things is such a high gear ratio, I can only pedal a few times before I am exhausted. I guess it is just too much of a good thing.
