I didn't know that there was an offset key made? Are you referring to the 2 or 4 stroke engine?

On the 2 strokes, one person noted that a little timing retard helped a lot. Maybe a couple degrees? All he did was file the magneto slot and retarded the timing a little.

Being the timing is fixed and no way to change it many engines come from the factory off more times then not. On any fixed timing motor 2 or 4 stroke a off set key is one of the ways of setting it closer. Watch out as retarding to much will burn up a motor quickly. To far advance will make the engine ping or spark knock. Yes they make off set keys.

I have all so found for the 2 cycle a adjustable rotor but not really crazy about that idea as it does not use a key way and more likely can change if the set screw comes loose.
