Hello,
So I'm building an ebike, and I have an electric motor that I will hook up to my rear sprocket of my bike with a chain so that I'll have a pedal assist relationship going on.
In this situation I will always have to be pedaling, and if I ever want to turn my motor off (or my batteries run out) I'd like to pedal on my own without spinning my motor unnecessarily which I would rather not do.
So I am looking for a solution to this problem that will allow me to be able to have: full pedal (without spinning my motor), full motor (without moving my pedals), or pedal and motor assisted.
I believe that if I have a "Double freewheel" or "double roller" on my rear sprocket that this will fix the problem for me. What I mean by a double freewheel is to have some sort of freewheel that I can have a chain from my pedal on one sprocket and a chain from my motor on another sprocket and have them independent of each other (either can spin while the other is stationary or they can spin together).
Does something like this exist? What would be it's rightful name? Any google helps?
Thanks for any help,
-James
