Don't have a link to photos but, yes, it's been done.

The problem is you must install the cables so there are no sharp bends or kinks, especially in the clutch and throttle cables. They need long sweeping curves to reduce any cable bind. Routing them through the frame or bars usually require them to be bent too sharply to give good, friction free movement.

It has been done and I have also done it. The most important thing to keep in mind is not to compromise the frame.

Small holes, rubber grommets, fish through with a coat hanger. Locate the sparker behind and under seat. All my bikes get this treatment. I should have examples. Check out my builds albums for pics of this.
