Is it possible to buy a sprocket without holes? I'm going to mount it on the disk mount and I don't think I have to have an adapter for any other reason so why not eliminate it by drilling proper holes?

Check out Azbills threads. I bought a wheel from him that is set up that way. It appears that he took a regular sprocket and drilled it to match the holes on the disc brake rotor and cut the center out. PM Azbill for more info.
I've used regular one piece sprockets. The hole for the crank lines up perfectly with the 9 hole pattern on the rag joint. As far as drilling the holes where you need them shouldn't be a problem.

all I did was cut the 9 hole pattern from hole to hole with a grinder
then centered the rotor (160mm) on the sprocket and marked the holes
I found the disc mount was to far out and wouldn't line up with engine sprocket
it is spaced closer to spokes with 2 nuts (I used washers until I got the spacing figured out)
