chain alignment

i need to know what kind of clearence between the rear tire and chain is common....dont want the chain to rub the side of the tire and it seems awful close to me...thanks for any info.

Any measurement is okay as long as the chain clears the tire, frame and anything else. If you need some clearance do what Venice suggested; flip the sprocket. If your sprocket isn't the dished type, but flat, you might gain some distance by installing a couple of washers between the cone nuts at the axle and the bike frame to space the wheel a little to the right.
