Chinese chain breaker

Thanks to everyone who helped me with the clutch. another issue now, however. I noticed the standard chain breaker works well with getting the chain separated. but im trying to get it back on, not so easy. Any suggestions?

Did you leave the pin inside the link, or did you take the pin all the way out? If it's still in there, you can try setting the chain on a block of wood and LIGHTLY tapping with a hammer.

Having just done that a few minutes ago, I'd say vise grips work very well. You can play with the adjuster to give you strength and go one step at a time until it's done.

Forgot to mention in my first response, I use a chain break tool my friend has to push the pin as far back in as it will go, then use the pliers to snap it into place. I've had to do this several times already and it's gotten much easier.
