This may be a known fact but if you have a leaky petcock, use yellow Teflon 'type' tape. It may not be in the plumbing section but ask and you will find. It solved my headache!

Good idea... I know the white stuff don't work too well with gasoline so I guess thet's what the difference is.
There's also fuel proof teflon thread paste that I've used on mine to stop a leak, it can be found in the hardware stores as well.

I just replaced mine with a better brass one from eBay for like $6
I hear you. I replaced mine with the SBP model and it worked great but when some welding was done I think it warped the threading slightly and became a mess...Easy fix in the end.
