Hey guys,

I'm rebuilding my Schwinn Del Mar. What type of grease would you guys recommend using on the bearings in the bottom bracket and the forks?

Thanks

I just used a General Purpose grease for the bearings in the forks. They won't heat up or anything like wheel bearings, etc..

Any good automotive quality bearing grease will work just fine. I'd stay away from white lithium. It's a little light duty for wheel and crank bearings.

Red moly synthetic grease such as Mobil 1, Lucas, Redline CV2, or others will last a very long time and make non sealed bearing much more suited to the high speed running of a motorized bicycle because it will run cooler and stay on the races better. Really pack it in there good to avoid air pockets.

I have been using a Lucas brand high performance grease on all of my parts. I buy it at home depot near the WD-40 if it helps any :) I recommend this grease to all of my "grease-monkey" friends.
