no repair work for almost a week here, so playing with some stuff

carefully measured fuel in the tank and rode 24miles aggressively, re-measured fuel & calculated MPG at 45

did it again over same course riding normally in the sweet spot - re-measured & calculated MPG at 125

some really long, steep hills along the route may have skewed the numbers a bit, but it felt about right even tho the diff is surprising

Keeping the motor at it's sweetet part of the power band not necessarily WOT will prolly make a dramatic differance in MPH. This is what I normaly do. I would never bog a engine during a load however. ''Hills''

been doing only balanced cranks for last 2 years & am noticing sweet spot going higher into the rpm band and folks considering a much higher cruising speed to be the new normal - never measured how much diff it makes

A light breeze? Didn't think it would skew it that far though... is your route an uneven split between uphill or down? 60/40? Does the traffic go in one direction more than the other, adding to the breeze factor? Did you let the motor cool off completely before the ride back?

These all seem like small factors by themselves but, add them up and consider how little power is actually involved in these engines.

Try the trip a few more times, maybe ten... average out the numbers from that. They will still be biased to one direction but we may be able to close the gap a lil bit.

Or just average these two results which is around 85 or so!
