Looks like you should be able to use a Wald $10 rear rack and that pretty easily, if you source something for a brace under the rack tubes. other $15 racks that have the flat alu or steel plate in the center, should work by drilling the appropriate holes and adding some hardware. It's only 2 bolts and comes with a petcock.

I'd bolt that tank to a top tube before I'd even think of mounting the peanut tank to a top tube anymore.....seriously.

I'd recommend some kind of clamps or brackets then! 1 gal of gas is about 8 or 9 lb. So the whole rig is going to be heavy, and it's meant for a flat surface.

The wedge shape is awesome though. You might be able to get it in some diamond frames if you have a front or rear engine like a Dax.

This MIGHT fit inside metal ammo cans! Measure twice!

Make this tank for $10. If you want to paint it, scuff the whole thing (new) with 3m green kitchen scrubbies, wipe down, and use Fusion paint. Let it cure 2 days! It works.

personally I see where the Beverage distributors have now been putting there beer in the mini kegs. Im going that route when I finish the beer. LOL

i have considered an automotive fuel cap and filler neck from one of the old cars in my back 40.
cut filler neck off and weld to whatever tank i build.
another one is crank out something on my lathe,with an inlet valve to let air in so fuel will drain out petcock.and a check ball to keep gas in when its sloshing.
i have a couple old coleman cookstoves,the filler is a nice size.

oh.forgot why i was here,like the bike,the ammo box idea is cool.
aftermarket snowmobile parts suppliers have rear fuel storage tanks,roughly one gallon.
cap and gas line fitting ready to go.

If you cut the fuel neck from an old mower or tiller (briggs or tecumseh), you can find new vented ( 2 way) caps for cheap.



Here is a check-ball vent I made today for $0, but the check-ball shuts off fuel flow if there's no return hose from carb. Best to use a motorcycle dirt-bike tank vent ($10) for gravity feed.

My home-made vent (without check ball it works, but can leak fumes when parked)

Some dude put a pocketbike tank on his FD. This doesn't look too bad!
Maybe if you find a crapped out or wrecked pocketbike on CL or EB, you could get a tank, headlights, battery, blinker system, switches, levers, fairings, maybe even a running motor.
Most of the pocketbike engines can mount straight onto a Dax FD.
I saw someone put the fairing with headlights from a pocketbike onto a mountain bike. It was a little wierd but it worked!

I'm not sure how it is mounted though. I think most pocketbikes have 1 or 2 center tabs on the tank. Maybe he has an L shaped bracket.

I like the back mount. As for that ammo box, fish tank sealer? around the edges and fabricate a cap so it doesn't open the whole thing? Not sure if it will work As im thinking but ifs worth looking into I think.

Just remember you are dealing with a volatile and explosive fuel that is tied to an internal combustion engine powered by a sparking ignition. You could possibly weld an ammo box after making the tank neck. It seems a better idea to install a plastic tank in there.

Liquid ammo? Ammo cans look cool and all but they are not meant to contain liquid. Used to contain proper liquid containers, I don't see a problem with that at all. Use your head when dealing with liquid explosives....seriously.

I bought a NOS B&S gas tank from a lawn mower parts supply on eBay. Mount is steel strap from Home Depot painted semi-gloss black. Total cost with fittings and hoses etc has been about $90. Holds a gallon.

so,i cut up a bunk bed for my buddy,to make it a raised bed,no second bunk.
i had this pile of bent pipes,wondering what to do with them.
i sectioned out two of the bends,welded them to a third one that was on a 20"long pipe
lined it up with the top tube,and elbows turn up and to the right,beside the handlebar stem.cap is from an inflatable boat,chrome plated brass.
it happens to have a 2" diameter base,and after tinning pipe and brass,it joined nicely.

turned a block on the lathe for seat post end to take an engine mount bracket to hold it on to seat post.threaded it for 1/8"npt.
will post pics tomorrow.
it wont hold a lot of gas,but i dont go really far anyway.
