I could not get my 80cc 2-stroke gas mod chain tensioner to work right. It's a bearing-less nylon bobbin that is pure junk. The skateboard wheel idea isn't working out for a couple of reasons. Why would it have to be a roller, it seems like a sprocket wheel could serve the purpose. Why not adapt a sprocket wheel from a junked derailleur or use one of the tensioners called a singleator chain tensioner?

I was going to post the link in eBay to the Singleator tensioner, but it wouldn't allow me to, so just do a search on ebay for Single Speed Chain tensioner" and/or Singleator.

There is at least one member here who used an old derailleur as a sprung chain tensioner. It looked very nice and functioned beautifully from what I understand.
I see you're familiar with the search feature, you might have better luck finding it than me but as I'm sure you have seen there are a lot of posts about this subject.
