Hi,

I just finished putting an 80 CC motor kit on my Trek mountain bike:

I have a mystery part left over. Anyone know what this is? (sorry for the blurry picture, my camera won't zoom):

Also, the motor doesn't allow the back wheel to turn freely.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

That thing comes with all the kits and is the doohickey you use when you pull the gear for removing the clutch. There's a thread on this forum for using it and, by golly, I can't remember where it is.......someone help me out.

Welcome to the forum... If you squeeze the clutch lever, the rear wheel should spin freely. If not, the chain might be touching the crankcase or you need to adjust your clutch cable or the clutch itself...

Thank you everyone! Now I know what that tool is for, and I downloaded the video in case I ever have to use it.

The clutch cable had too much slack, so it wasn't operating the clutch arm. It engages now and the wheel can turn freely.

Now I just have to wait for Spring so I can ride it...

Welcome to the forum. Hope you figure whats stopping you from free wheeling with the clutch lever locked down.
