Re: Winter riding decisions.
Back in the mid-1980's, I rode a motorized bicycle for 2 years straight. Winter, spring, summer, and fall.
It was my only option, besides walking.
I had a front, friction mounted Bike Bug engine, and went through 3 bicycles with the same engine, in 2 years.
It was 2.4 miles one way to work, and another 2.4 miles home.
As long as the roads were clear, I rode.
There were several days when the ice prevented me from riding, but generally speaking, I rode it daily.
Its certainly possible. I did not customize the bicycle, but instead simply dressed for the weather. Coveralls, gloves, and on really bitter days I wore a stocking hat that covered my face.
It certainly was not a comfortable way to get back and forth, but it is possible!
