I think gas bikes will be around just as long as gasoline is.
If you had to go across this beautiful country on both gas and electric, I bet gas would beat the electric by about a week or so between charges vs a quick fill up.....even with several batteries unless you can rig up a 24 volt charger off the spinning wheel to an alternate battery combined with solar power so you use one and charge the other .not sure how or if that would work.
