There are some benefits to breaking in with a lot of oil, but only to a certain extent. If you add more oil you will actually LEAN the fuel/air mixture. More oil = less gas in the gas / air ratio. There are a few threads on this subject but I wasn't able to find them.
Based on what I've read, using 24:1 for break in then 32:1 afterwards is a solid plan (unless you've got a specialty oil like Opti).
