Here's a bike that I've been looking for for a very long time.
I scored it at the LB swap meet today along with two 50's Schwinn Panthers.
This bike is a 1960 24" Schwinn Deluxe Tornado 'double arch' bar.
I've only seen two of them in my life; (& I own one of them now!!!) :)

Nice find, Norm. Now, you're going to restore it and pedal it around, right? :)

Wow! Excellent find! I got a 1961 schwinn tiger at the side of the road, but I just don't have the heart to motorize it :D I'd like to see what you do with this :)
 
No motor on this one!! ;)

I'm thinking about keeping the factory paint & building some nice old skool wheels with a red band- kick back hub that I've been saving for something like this. :bike2:
 
i'd definitely keep the paint. just soak it down with WD40 and rub it in, it'll shine up that rusty old patina...

sucks i missed the swapmeet (again,) it was raining, and i was too hungover to ride all the way there.
 
So you scored a couple Schwinn Panthers, huh? Once again cornering the Panther market. Your ruthless. I can't seem to find one anywhere and you keep finding more like it's no big deal. That must have been a good swap meet you went to.

Here's a update... I used some leftover rear 24" wheels from Nirve Switchblades that I motorized to get her going.
I relaced one onto a front hub & the other still has a Shimano Nexus 3-speed hub. Then I added some spankin' new white walls & a new seat.
This thing rides soooo sweet with gears!!

Very Nice Norm. Cool you are keeping it as is, If I get some time I want to clean up an old roll-fast I have for a peddaler
 
There was a bike show at the Armand Hammer Museum last Thursday night.
We rode the old Schwinns out there to show 'em off.
Here's a pic of me with the bike that night...

I've decided that I wanna put some Felt wheels on her!
I have some 50mm wide 24" rims left over from a Felt ElGuapo... I'm gonna strip the red paint off of 'em, polish 'em up & lace 'em in with stainless 12-gage spokes. (^)
