You want the motor to be mounted solidly in the frame. If it's mounted on some soft material, the vibration stress will be transferred to the mount studs and frame, either of which can break.

As far as noise is concerned, the stock exhaust on the HT kits is really pretty quiet. So is the SBP expansion pipe. I had my brother-in-law ride mine, and you can only hear it up to about a half block away. Of course, it seems louder to the rider, because you're with it all the time.
