I've spent a good deal of time working on cars, I'm pretty mechanically inclined, my father was a mechanic. I'd estimate that from unboxing to riding took me six hours (spread out over many days), but a fair amount of that was fabricating a front engine mount from very thick steel using dull, broken hand tools.
Even so, it doesn't take that much mechanical know-how, as it's essentially just "tab A, slot B." Rules of thumb: crooked is bad, don't drill or cut anything unless absolutely necessary (which is almost never).
