gasket hole size

Hi good people and those who try,just a thought about the carby and exhaust gaskets I have noticed that the hole sizes in the gaskets are small compared to their chambers,is this for a reason?Is it wise to make any changes to the gaskets,will it cause loss of any compression?thanks yendorrodney88

Thanks,perfect timing I just took my carby off,I've got a small airleak,just put some light tape on(where the carby joins)new gasket and just made the hole a bit bigger and put a little loctite,I will try her out in the morning,also is it safe to not use the chain guide, thanks again for your help,yendorrodney88
