New Kit from FiveStarSeller off of E-bay,My build is 21" Gary Fisher mountain bike 24 speed hard tail with front shocks and a China 66/80cc engine bought from E-bay for 148.50, Black engine kit with chrome muffler. I have pretty much everything on was getting to putting the chain on and started stripping screws, 2 screws out and 1 that just won't give. Have tried almost everything to get this last screw out without drilling it out. My Dad even suggested buying a easy out just for this screw.
Well out of the 2 screws already removed 1 is stripped also, but the 1st is fine.

Just can't seem to get this last bolt to budge. I have already tried a impact driver, That didn't work. The seller even says:
Dear friend,
Thank you for your email and contacting us about the problem.
We have got the pictures and reported it to our technician. He suggest that the screw is too tight and you have to use special screw driver to budge it. You could buy the tool from your local bicycle or motor store. But if there is anything else you concern or need any concern, please feel free to contact us. ** You Think ? lol **
All my tools are craftsman tools I own approx. 20 flat head screw drivers and do not know of any flat head screw driver that can repair stripped heads Well I will try to go around this and thread on the chain without touching up the sprocket tips and see IF I can get it to work anyways. Any Suggestions ??????????????????

The screw slot is probably damaged so bad that the impact driver tip can't get a grip.

You might have to drill that one out. The good thing is that hole goes all the way through the engine and is open on the back side. And if you just drill off the screw head, remove the clutch actuator/sprocket cover, there should be enough thread for you to grab with a pair of pliers or vice grips. It should turn out easily. (counterclockwise)

Good luck. Let us know what happens.

OK was able to drill out the top part of the screw and was able to remove cover off nicely. And I didn't drill into the cover like most would have, I would never have gotten that bolt out, After looking at it, It's Bent !

That's one thing I will never get over the fear of eating a side cover while trying to remove a stuck screw.
Ok off with the rest of the body pieces so I can get to Ace Hardware to match a few new bolts.
Thank you so Far lol. 1st build

Great idea.
Just grab the threaded bolt that is sticking out
the back of the case with vise grips.

No need to drill off the head.
That bolt sticks out the back so you can attach the chain guard.

Toadmund I have extra thick tires & Slime, it went threw the side wall. Well got the tire fixed made it to Ace like 5 minutes before they closed and got the 3 allen head black bolts for my black motor. It's over 106 degrees here I'm tired and sweating and will wait till the sun goes down before trying to finish this up.
Thanks all so far for the help. & Toadmund I see your a Cat lover as well, I have 6 indoor cats ( 1 litter ) all fixed 6yrs old 3 males 3 females, and their 7 yr old Mother is my only outdoor cat and she too is fixed. and I have 2 female dogs.

Maybe just take a break from stressing out over that stupid bolt and work on it tomorrow with a fresh mind.
O well off to the store need cat liter
MotorBicycleRacing when you have less then 1/8th of a screw bolt sticking out the back and limited space to move around or get anything into. No Bigger Vice Grips would not work here. lol

O last night was fun on the way back from Safeway getting Cat Liter I stripped the head off my Index shiftier, There's another 10.00 for a new shifter cable. But while riding home last night I decided to look at the sprocket to see if it was true to the wheel Which It was Not. lol So anyone have some good idea's on how to straighten out the sprocket? I will post pics as I go along so everyone can see What I am doing. My biggest problem is the sprocket doesn't even touch my rear hub !! I have about a 1/8" clearance all the way around the sprocket, that's meant to be snug against it.

Well do I need to buy a different sprocket? All the pics I have seen at this point say the sprocket should be snug against the rear hub. I'm putting it on a Double walled Alex rims DM18 w/ a Innova street tire with 14 gauge spokes That I trued up myself. Just can't seem to get that little wobble out of the sprocket.

Installing, centering and aligning the rear sprocket is one of the most discussed issues on the forum.
There's plenty to read on the subject so instead of us trying to explain it, try some of the suggestions offered here > http://www.google.com/cse?cx=partne....tab=0&gsc.q=Rear sprocket install&gsc.page=1

And no, the sprocket isn't supposed to touch the hub. There is usually a space between it and most hubs. That space should be equal on all sides. Also there should be washers under your bolt heads.

Edited: I just found about the best Tutorial from start to finish on building a motorized Bike. But this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdmxqMnal6s
and most youtube videos I've seen show the flat washers on the back with the nut, and not on the heads of the bolts. ?? So I don't know ...

This Sequence of videos start from un-boxing the engine to final assembly and premixing oil and gas, to starting for the first time. I copied the URL's to share. I'll look for a place on these forums to post them to.

How many spokes are in that wheel? The kit rag joint (sprocket/attachment parts) are designed for use with a 36 spoke rim. If you have 32 spokes you're going to have problems.

I've never seen a sprocket drilled the way your appears to be. But stranger things have happened.

Tom

Yea I have a 32 hole Black Alexrimms DM18 14 gauge spokes Double walled rims with silver eye outlets. Yea I see a problem here lol Crap !!!! :-||
Yea the Sprocket holes are about 1/4" long Oblong holes. Yea I'm having issues. lol Son of Ahh ............
Have to call my locale bike shop Bikes etc. and ask Owner/Head Mechanic Randy if he has a 36 hole tire and how much. DId not see this coming. .... Grrrrr.... 45.00 +tax for a 36 holed back rim w/stainless steel spokes...... I don't have the cash for that right now. .

I found someone to help me out, There wiring it to my account some time later today or tomorrow, I'll set it up with Someone at the shop to put it on hold for me till tomorrow. I'll stick with the rag for now. I'm already way over my budget for this month, Working on next month's $$ already hurts. I'm on low ball SSI, and in Cali we don't get food stamps. And I'm not in subsidized housing either.
In that video I liked how he straightened out the sprocket with the hammer. It seem to work. lol Also a good way to get the frustrations out . :)
