The cost of fuel for the whole trip, at 9000 miles is

(100+ miles a gallon) 90 x $4 = $360
Oil change max. every 1000 miles 9 x $4 = $ 36

So the whole trip cost lets just say $ 400!

It will take about 150 riders to do it which would average it out to

60 miles per rider at a cost of 1 Hamburger (without cheese!!!)

And it is an experience everybody will remember for some time!

I was thinking with the additional $20 for the price of the shirt, it all adds up ;)

So far I'm seeing Neil's (MotorBicycleRacing) got a long ride ahead of him to greet Bill (azbill) outside of Scottsdale......300+ miles.

If he swings down to San Diego, that would be a good jaunt. I'm thinkin cheeseburgers! In-N-Out double double w/ grilled onions.....yum!

Nobody has to buy a t-shirt!!!
150 riders x $20 = $3000

If you can not afford to buy your own t-shirt we can NOT help!

We are NOT able to finance any more then we already do!

We will start the building tread on this forum for the bike, after the Easy Rider Show in Sacramento ( after January 14th).

We do supply the bike and technical support / parts for this 9000 mile
trip! Not to mention the time to pull this together! Think about it!

We just would like to explain how this idea was born:

We were talking how cool it would be to make a trip from the west coast to the east coast! It would be great! But once you go in to the detail, you see that it would be an undertaking that may take 8 or more weeks!
We both have jobs and we have to pay our bills - therefore we can not afford to just leave for two months (aside, my wife would be very unhappy)! Then the cost of the trip - camping, motel, loss of income again!
If both of us would go, we would have no home-base that can give support in parts and such. Then the question of returning the bike back home, flight.....! It just becomes too much !

Now, the story's to tell about a trip like this are priceless! For sure! Then the relay - ride idea came up!! And it suddenly seemed to be a doable trip! A trip many people could take part of, the riders meeting people, the bike getting used and proudly wearing battle scars!

The dividing of time and money ,necessary for this project between enthusiasts will pay off, in shared memories and storys to come!

One more thing... We think that getting many people together to achieve something like this makes for a much more memorable event than just a couple of guys riding across the continent.

Whoever does this ride is gonna want a shirt, that's almost a given......c'mon!

Oh yeah....I did that ride! No way, really......where's your shirt? Oh, was hard times then, couldn't afford one...... yeah right pal! No honestly, I did.....see my name on the tank?

How bout $15? Just a suggestion. I can afford the shirt, gas, oil change, a fricken Cheeseburger and build a bike up before the day of the race at Grange. Maybe not all 150 of the participating riders can.

That's all I'm sayin' bros and ya kinda know who I am........kinda. I may participate if you go the next to TJ route so too speak....

Hey bro, that $20 is just an estimate of what the shirts will end up costing us. Whatever the final cost turns out to be...... that's what we'll sell the shirts for...... no offense intended:D
