Alright I have another 2 Smoker that I can use in my Huffy build, but it presents level carb issues the way I want it to sit in the frame.

As you can see I need another way to mount my carb or another carb (diaphragm type maybe)

Below shows how it was mounted in the snow blower.

The engine is a Tecumseh AH600 that is around 3HP @ 98cc.

A custom intake manifold would not be that hard to fabricate. You'd need to have access to a welder and some scrap steel flat stock and tubing but...

Good luck.

You will find that carb is a prejetted carb no ajustments, altho the run good they require 32to1 mix I think just to keep from over reving. I just sold one but to make sure it ran I used my chain saw mix 50 to 1 and run fine but I think it would do good with 40 to one with a ajustable carb. There are a lot of them out there on lawn equipment that have a idle sircet and a high speed jet that would work or like you said a diaphram type. The way the are it would be hard to get them to run at the max RPM's. with a diaphram carb you need to get the impuls hooked to the intake or crankcase...........Curt

Not totally sure what you mean by the impulse hooked to the intake or crankcase for a diaphragm carb. Would a Dax RT carb work on this engine?

Diaphram carbs have there own fuel pump and requires a vacum impuls line. (just a tube from the intake manifold or to the crank case)
You can use any kind of carb as long as you have the proper intake for it and needs to sit level if its a float type.............Curt ..Make sure the venture is the right size or close

Cool... now I understand what you mean. So basically if it is a diaphragm carb I need to run a vacuum line to a tap off of the intake or tape the case to hook it up. Sounds like off the intake would be the safest way to go.

By the way that engine seems to run good even though I had it bouncing around on the bench (It came lose, hence the bouncing around). Though it did surge, but that I think was due to in not having its float bowl not level when it came lose and start to bounce around.

Would a carb off a four cycle 3hp Tecumseh work on this little engine? I ask because I have one but don't know the differences between carbs on a 2 stroke and 4 cycle engine

Yes it should work fine as long as the float is level............Curt ..Best if it ha a needle valve and low spped jet

Yes the intake would be the easyst or if 4 stroke you can do it on the tapet cover....................Curt

Here's the way I always level my carbs.

I've used this setup a dozen times with no problems. Mine are all four strokes though. I used a curve from some old drop handlebars with a flange welded to each end. I looks like your angle is not as radical as mine, so you could use a very short tube. .

No, they’re just big washers.

For example the one I’m holding is called 3/4”, but actually the hole is closer to 7/8”. And it’s a whooping 3/16” thick.

The store I go to sells them in increments up to 1-1/4”

As you can see from this exhaust just cut the outside of the washer to match your port.

Now why didn't I think of that I always cut mine out of steel plate even if you had to hone the big hole out some it still be easier. And a lot less hacking (small then plate )Thanks Kirk. Maybe one should pick up some next time I go to the farm supply just to have on hand only need a couple sizeses for small engines.............Curt

I am looking and was wondering if you could mill the part were the carb bolts on flat and then redrill it for new manifold bolts? Kind of looks like there is enough metal to do so.............Curt

I don't think there is enough there to do that and I think I would have more trouble doing it that way than making a short intake pipe with a flange at both ends.

I was just a thought, sure would have been nice if they would have done it from the factury.................Curt

Yes it would be great if they would of bolted the intake on like they do with most of their engines. Then I could just take it off and maybe flip it around then bolt the carb back on.
