Actually i was under the impression that the crosshatch had alot to do with how the engine broke in.

Far as i know the old time engines took longer to break in due to the deep crosshatch.
Now 4 cycles i know will allways have the crosshatch.

But these 2 cycles i wonder.

My Grubee hardly has Crome left in the bore let alone Crosshatch.
But it has seen better days.

I just ordered one! What is the proper head torque for these heads?

Thats a good question.
Here is a good answer.

Proper Bolt Torque - by Zero Fasteners

Now i have seen some reccomendations around here somewhere.
I'll have to find it.

Heres one more in a more critical application.

Rotax engine torque specifications, Rotax cylinder head torque specs, Rotax aircraft engine bolt torque specs.

I would say 60 inch pounds.

Just be extra careful not to drive the stud to the bottom of the tapped hole and then turn it more.
That will certinly strip the threads out.
Actually push the threads out.

I will locktight (Blue) the studs and hope that helps. 60Lb sounds good thanks.

Do you think this engine needs a Nut & Bolt upgrade?

The HeadStuds look good to me.
The rest i will replace with some nice Socket Head Cap Screws.
There easier to tighten and to take out.
Should only cost about $10.00 for all the bolts.
And i Like Nylon Insert Lock Nuts so i'll prolly get thoose too.

Other than the head studs the rest look the same as any stock motor.
The Flat head screws i have are allready partially stripped.
I had to use an impact driver to get the engine apart.

I as well did slight porting.
Lowered the intake a little and raised the exhaust.
Matched the crankase and tranfers.
gonna use thin aluminum base gasket.

I have the bottom end back together.
I was putting the top end together and broke a ring.

Waiting for a new set from Justin.

Should have her up and running soon.

I'll post pics.
