Day 2 using the CNS carb. Small intake cut and weld. Little idle adjust, little air/fuel adjust, runs perfect! Sounds wicked too, quite a bit louder then the stock carb with stock filter and dust cap. Top end is very strong. Idle takes a little to drop but its getting better with use. B5HS is nice a color. Anyone get water moisture on the outside of the intake?

(photo is angled a bit, the carb isn't angled down that bad, but it is a little)

Yep - the moisture is caused by the venturi effect dropping the temperature of the intake, perfectly normal :)

Yeah, I'll be running breather lines for the 2 vents before this weekend. I'll try capping that one. Thanks!

It was the other way around for capping the lines. If I had the one with the red arrow capped it wouldn't run and if capped while running it would die. I can't see letting the over flow just go to the ground, that be a lot of lost gas.

I just got mine but after reading this thread Iam not sure what fitting to cap if any? Seems like enough members are buying these carbs to make a thread just about tweeking (modding?) them. Sooooo should I cap these fittings? Should I cap one? (what one?)

Come to think on it - if there's any possibility of not using the extended intake that comes w/the CNS, if you have room to use the stock intake or the ability to fabricate your own, I'd very much recommend it as intake length effects performance too... as well as the CNS being kinda heavy and the undue strain on the intake studs *shrug* I had a bit more room as I've a huge ol' cruiser & a shiftkit, but it's worth some fiddling to see...

Thanks bro. I have the room to install with out extending the intake. At over 8000 feet I bet ill have to rejet. Well I guess ill just install it and see what happens. Thanks again.

I'd be really kinda surprised if you'd need a different jet even @ 8000' as I've not even touched the needle clip setting & there's plenty more adjustment left in the fuel/air mix screw (closest to the air filter & in for richer ifn anyone wonders)...

...but I suppose it's w/e the engine wants ;)

I installed a expansion chamber, port matched, matched the gaskets and cleaned the flanges in the ports . . I hope this carb will help give me a little power with the mods Ive made to get me up my hills. As it is I have to peddel up just about any hill I ride on. Thanks again.

as it would be w/o an expansion chamber exhaust in my opinion :)
Baby steps, man. :) Get new part, enjoy, get bored, get another new part. Exhaust will be next.

I went for a good hour plus ride last night. Back gravel roads mostly, mid to WOT the whole way. I had after the first 20 mins a little bit of studdering/bogging down after low throttle for some rough spots, I thought maybe I was running too rich and that was the cause. Also on the last stretch home I had loss of power. I could still go a good clip WOT no four stroking but I was not reaching high rpms. It was dark when I got home so I parked it.

I pulled the plug this morning expecting a wet oily looking plug, but it was actually a light tan, starting grey. I've been too lean this whole time! Seems my power loss is fuel starvation. I'll be capping that vent tonight, moving the c-clip up (or was that down, search the site tonight) or put the a/f screw all the way in to start off with to run richer and start tuning tonight weather permitting. I'm at 1000ft.

Very wise man :D ...if only I managed to do the same lol

As for yer carb - I'd try it w/o messing with the clip settings first, I bet it's pretty close. There's not a lot of difference between 1000' and sea level - enough that our optimum settings would be slightly different, but no more than the air/fuel screw could compensate for. At least for the initial diagnostics anyway, don't wanna mess w/too much at once - yer "baby steps" advice is indeed that ossum ;)

Well had a look on my lunch break, air filter ftl. I noticed dust around the rubber. The little tab didn't cut into the rubber, causing a nice leak for dust. I'm cutting the tab and sealing it with Seal-all.

Yup, I can not cap that one line. If I do I can not start the motor (cold or warmed up) and if I cap it running it will bog down and die, idle or mid throttle. A/F all the way in, nothing. Will not run capped.

I Have the same CNS carb! But once I traded out the the crumby manifold that comes with the carb for the Pirate Cycles ported billet intake it was like nite & day. If you think the CNS Carb is nice try it with a ported intake...WOW

ok venlaw had the same issue with me , so just to verify looking at picture on page 1 here , he has the left side capped off this is the one i want to cap ? , as other picture shows the arrow going to the right hand side one to cap , so i a little mixed up , once i cap with fully warm engine i will then adjust my air/fuel screw.

K...I'm gonna go play with it, report back later.

Plus I wanna make a catch can for fuel over flow. In town its working fine having it connected to the carb, but on back roads its causing my filter to get soaked in fuel at slow speeds over washboard.. Its working right, but I don't want that fuel going to the ground...
