| | Keeping current well, i had a notice that i haven't posted or participated on forum for alittle while, so i guess i really should give some updates on my project.
this is the first place i landed looking to mine the archives and ask questions.
i recieved a hearty welcome and many replies of incouragement and warning both, for which i am grateful.
i decided to go GEBE and a CY GP460 from DDM w/ 14 tooth cog mounted on a TREK 4500.
this is going to be my year round work vehicle. ( 30 ml. round trip 6 days a week)
my GEBE mount kit and wheels left GEBE today to come the 75 mls. to me, so i kind of hope i'll have it Sat. but we'll see.
still rounding up parts for my light system, tach, speedo etc. so all in all making good progress.
thanks,

You will fly.
4.2 hp at 11,000 rpm.
Will the timing belt from GEBE take it? bb88x - GP460 4.2+ HP Engine w/Inner Clutch

| | Re: Keeping current spad4me,
this whole setup is going to be right at 55#'s, i'm 5'4" and 135#'s in full racing leathers and helmet.
with the Dominator pipe, hot ignition and good mixture the mechanics at the local outlaw scooter shop have est. 14,000rpm no problem, highest i've ever heard of was 17,000 which is some crazy rpm's. i also have very good testamony that this setup has shown over 50mph on the gps with both a heavier bike and rider, so time will tell.
i've done my homework. i intend to ALWAYS pedal up to atleast 15 mph and EASE into the throttle progressively.
Den has assured me that his T40 will bust his bike up if it's thrown wide open, but , if it's given some respect and consideration will really go and never quit.
reviews and pics to follow.
thnaks,

| | Re: Keeping current You can't see my drool over your setup.
I am thinking of building something for looooong hauls.
I was leaning towards a 50 cc honda staton kit, but I must admit the GP460 looks good.
And a GEBE system is smooth and reliable.
Post a-lot of pictures please. |

| | Re: Keeping current will do on the pics, there are a bunch of what i think will be interesting features to this project.
depending on how Looooooooong you are meaning, weight, weather issues etc. the staton drive could have many benefits.
you might realize that there is a 2 stroke aircooled 55cc engine readily available that does well over 5hp out of the box and is being built to 9+hp on a regular basis.
i'd think the staton would be 1 ofthe better ways to put that on a bike since you would have so much gearing lateral to work with.
you are significatly my senior and have been around this MUCH longer than me so i won't pretend to preach to you, but if you want to talk thru some of your thoughts and plans please shoot me a PM.

steve | Your build puts you waaaaaay ahead of just about anybody except a guy who has built a similar ride he is a new member here too.
The number of posts is not really an indication of skill except fot the moderators.
In Arizona something as powerful as a GP460 would get me stopped for sure it is the maximum that I would use . Better to use something under 50 cc .
Here is the builder of a similar ride. Toques Arizona Pedal Assist laws for Motorized Bicycles ARIZONA HB 2796
Drive carefully

| | Re: Keeping current spad4me,
i saw that whole thread awhile ago, absolutly unbelievable.
here in Indiana we have a very relaxed motorassited bicycle code, and i have the whole page it's on in the motor vehicle code copied and in my wallet along with my CDL ClassB w/ public passanger and motorcycle indorsements.
the only issue i foresee would be one of speed if i don't pay attention and let some traffic control slip up on me. ver unlikely considering the route and times of day i'll be traveling, but you never know.
you may be interested in the Active 50 engine as a candidate too, if you want to hold the 50cc line. there is the BlueBird 57 you may enjoy looking at, just for refernce of course. ; ))

| | Re: Keeping current interestingly, i just found a chung yang factory table on a german site that lists the max rpm of the gp420 and gp460 both as 18,000 and those figures are with the stock exhaust.
no doubt no load reading.

| | Re: Keeping current Number of post, and or age is absolutely no indication of skill. I am the perfect example of that. Butchery is about all I'm good for. Sounds like you are going to have a great bike good luck. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
