Default slip roller

I finally bought a slip roller now to learn how to use it to make cones and cylinders for home made expansion chambers and keep my fingers out of the rollers. This might be fun or Ilikeabikea will be learning new cuss words from me.

motorbicycling.com pipes
I made some cones and tubes on the slip roll and they seem to be not too hard to make a lot easier than hand forming them.
Saw a thing on hydro forming a pipe on u-tube. I don't have a pressure washer or pump to put out enough pressure for that type of work but it sure looked neat how it was done. I'm a little scared of trying that as if it blew out it could beat you pretty badly or worse.
I'm still looking for more info on how to make a pipe but the lowest price for the info was about $15.00 for a computer program. I was hoping for a freebie. If one of you guys know of a proven design(dia of cones and length for power in mid range) for these china engines let me know.
I'm using a can over the diverging cone for muffling the pipe with a can over the back cone this seems to work out pretty good at making the pipe less annoying almost as quiet as a muffler on the end of the pipe.
I'm still playing around figuring out how to make the angled cones etc. so they will fit up for welding and its been fun so far(making paper patterns then making it in metal). one problem is the smallest dia I can roll is 1" but I can hand form then smaller if I try. for $195.00 the grizzly model G7148 slip roll is working out good. I went to the store in Springfield,Mo. and bought it had to pay tax so it was over $200.00 total plus the drive to the store but I was in Mo. and couldn't pass up going to the Grizzly store that place will make you slobber if your into tools. I want to get a metal mill and a new metal lathe.

Frank
You mean post pictures of rolling out the cones etc? I guess I could I'll have to do that. Its very caveman style work and probably done wrong but so far it works for me.

by using the off set you can lengthen the pipe

or using it turned a different way make the pipe start to bend

the short cone this is the hard one to make as it's small end is smaller then the slip rolls roller dia. so I make it separate and hand form it. You can see how stacking the angled end will make the pipe bend into the curve I want.

laid out on the bench now to make the straight part then the diverging cone, stinger, some trimming and welding yet to do.

the metal is a door skin off of a ford truck.
More work yet to be done so I'll post more as I do it.
