Default rewinding the mag coil and making an aux. coil

I've been making a coil that mounts to the mag. so far it will light LED lights nicely like the one I sell
matter of fact it will light a couple of them at once nice and bright even at idle. Possible uses for turn signals?or a brake light?
I'd try more LEDS but right now thats all I have to try.
The coil will light a 3 volt bulb but its very dim at higher rpms its still dim?

Norm,
Could you put a M-amp in series with the 3v light. This should tell us the max ma.
Could you also check the voltage using just one of your lights. What ga. wire did you use on the coil?

I've tried various sizes of wire the best is 0.004 dia(36 gage) it will put out 30-50voltac at idle and around
100 volts ac above idle
I've made the cores out of nails and laminated metal from dead electrical coils.
they are a pain to wind as the wire is very fine and will break easily

the LEDS are 12 volt running lights sold at most auto parts stores. they are 2 LEDs per light.

Hey norm i tried this as well using an unwrapped magneto coil that i cut down to size and some 22 guage wire. It puts out enough power to run a 6 volt lantern bulb. I just bought some 23 guage wire which im hoping will be able to power a 12 volt high power led like the one in this instructable:

Optional Addition

My plan is to use 2 voltage regulators, one for the smaller leds, hooked up for 6 volts, and one for the high power led for 12 volts. This way if there isint a high enough voltage at idle, the high power led just wont light but the smaller leds will stay on.

I'm going to keep trying to power all of the lights off the aux coil.
going to unwind a battery charger coil for more wire then do the mag coil unwinding thing then some cussing and whining then rewind the mag coil see if I can up the white wire output and some more cussing.
what can I screw up next?
answer one good mag coil and one battery charger.

I did some more messing with the last rewound coil it was working pretty good
for being wound with used wire.
Then late today it staring to act up the head light isn't as bright
and I can hear a difference in the engine when I have the light on it almost sounds like
it detonating I turn off the lights and the sound goes away?Oh boy.
I'm wondering if I've got a short in the winding?
It didn't make that sound earlier today so something has changed.
It was dark when all this happened so I'll look at it tomorrow.
I wonder if less turns or more turns on the heavy wire changes when it fires the mag?
I wonder what the thing would do if I left out the heavy winding completely?
I might do that to see if the engine will run with out a white wire winding.
I did some measuring of coils all of my bikes white wire measures 2.1 to 2.2 ohms
the black bike measures 1.9 ohms on the white wire. Its quicker on the revs and much faster
than the rest of my bikes. I also run a light system on this bike it will idle very slow
with the light on so now I'm wondering just what going on?

I might look into making a powered winding machine, hand cranking the one I made is getting old! My wife has an old sewing machine that she says I can have so.....?
