My name is Chuck and my bike is the Halcyon. I am new to the forum but not to the motorbike world. I have been building motorbikes since 2003. This is my bike. All hand built frame, forks, tank, bars. Nothing was used from existing bicylcles it's all from scratch. I hope everyone enjoys it. Please post comments or questions. I am enjoying the forum. There are many talented people on this site. I am so glad to see that there are other people that share my obsession. I just had to build one of these bikes because I could not afford to purchase a real one. The hardest part of the bike to build was the forks. They are a replica of a 1910 Harley Davidson leafspring style. It took me about a month to make the forks. It was about 3 months to build the frame and tank. Some small details are the custom hanlebars have an internal throttle, stich on leather grips, reverse clutch lever with internal cable, copper/brass fittings on the tank and carb. If there is anyone from Phoenix on this forum contact me. I would like to organize a ride, or meet at the Pavillions car and bike show on some saturday night. I usually go there from time to time. I take my bike or my 1956 Willys station wagon with the bike in the back.

As far as selling them, it is in the works. I have produced a few frames. I am figuring out what parts to mass produce and what to keep custom.

Thanks! I used 1/4 compression fittings and copper line. Yes it is the same parts you might find in the "Ice box kit" I just put them together sepperatly. It also helps that I work at ACE Hardware. I could give you a list of part that I used for the fuel delivery if you like. As far as the forks...Those were hard to build. We will have to talk more about those.

!HOW! Chuck i was trying to email you these pic's.

Have you seen them?

What a period correct original looking Board Track Racer look. Much cheaper to use is the Husky industrial frame only $00.00 almost exact same frame as worksman, then of course those torpedo style gas tanks for Indian & Cyclone style tributes for the Harley tributes with the box style tanks. Completed bikes sell for $00000.00+shipping & insurance and the rolling chassis less motor sell for $000.00+shipping & insurance.

C.H.

Pic's 1. WorksmanIndustrial Newspaper boy bicycle
2. Husky INB
3. Worksman Industrial Newspaper Boy Bicycle.
4. Cyclone Tribute Board Track Racer. Based on a Stretched Worksman Newspaper Boy Bicycle.
5. Indian Tribute Board Track Racer. Based on a Stretched Worksman Newspaper Boy Bicycle.

Yes!
I'm trying to make my own set of "Monark" style forks from a Monark forkset and two hard forks, it's a project. The original Monark doesn't fit the St-Archer Dyno/Drum Fr Hub, hence the new fabrication.
For fuel delivery I'm designing a tank that will fit between the top and cantilever tubes, with petcock attached to 1/4 compres tubes, adds a certain Steampunk to it- would love to find something easier but thats just not right, is it.
What is ur fuel line parts list?
Has anyone thot of a cool universal Schwinn cruiser tank?
I hope Ghent may have something soon.

Thanks for sharing,
:)

Chuck your custom Board Track Racer forks are superb.

That's what I call good ole American ingenuity.

I'd like to say a work of art, and this work that you've shared with us is what proves to me you are a custom bike artist.

Simply put and just my observation but to the point, kudos bro!!!

What I am going to do is a parts list with ACE Hardware SKU#'s and discriptions. If you have an ACE near you give them the #'s that I will post soon and they will give you just what you need. I should have that list posted soon. And I will take close ups of the fuel lines as well.

Halcyon Cycle Works fuel line parts and tips

Ok here is the SKU# list of the parts I used....the bold #'s are the ACE sku #'s
41229 times one 1/4 to 1/4 compression coupler.
41284 times one nylon compression ring
4179081 times one 1/4 male 1/4 female ball valve. (weld in a 1/4 pipe thread in tank)
41237 times one 1/4 compression to 1/4 pipe connector goes into valve.
option 1 4180329 hose barb to pipe connect. this way you can connect the barb with a small tube into the compression from the barb on top of the carb.
option 2 4180329 1/4 compression to 1/4 compression. use small fuel filter cut end smooth and use white compression ring to fit into 1/4 to 1/4 compression coupler then use a tiny peice of tube to fit on other end of fuel filter (from motrocycle shop) to the top of carb.

coil the felx copper around a 1 1/2 peice of pvc pipe or somthing of the diameter you desire for that really cool coil of line.

Lots and lots of studying of pictures and the real thing. I started with 3/8 steel for the bracket 1/4 for the top. plasma cut them out and drilled hols to accomidate the main tube and the girders front and back. The girders were made from .065 mild steel. After bending them up I moved to the leaf spring. I used a forge to harden the steel using flat stock or strapping. On the main spring I forged the end to "curl" so the bolt could be fit through with rubber bushings. On the bottom wheel mount I used 1/4" steel and placed nylon bushing for smooth movement. And yes I did fashion the header pipe for the exaust. The stock pipe from the kit has a funky angle that would not do.
how did you do the forks i wanted to build those for my (yet to be posted) bike any info is appreciated
and have you modified the exhaust??
