Thumbs up SpookyTooth Death Race 2009

Spooky Tooth Cycles is proud to announce tentative plans for the annual Death Race, with a twist...they want YOU to make the plans for this wicked jam!

To further show appreciation for all MB riders, the location of the event and possible after-party, will be chosen by you.

The date has been chosen, however: Sun April 19th.

Location should be in/around the Tucson area, lowest traffic routes with pavement throughout.

Keeping in mind, previous races have already been held at Gates Pass, Mt. Lemmon, and Saguaro Nat'l Park:
Death Race 2005: Spooky [b]Tooth Cycles - Motorized Bicycles: Gas Powered and Electric Bikes
2008: http://motorbicycling.com/f35/death-...promo-754.html

If you can think of a good place to hang out and party (and brag!) afterwards, throw in those ideas, too.
Submit your "idears" (OCC) in this thread, and all input will be reviewed by Spooky Tooth Cycles. The winner of chosen location will receive an autographed thong, worn by Evel Knievel. haha ewww!

MAP: tucson, az - Google Maps

LET'S ROCK.

I'll go first.

in my opinion, a good mix of utilizing torque, top-end speed and endurance, would be a route from Oracle Junction to Mammoth.

total distance is 32 miles.

the elevation difference between the two towns is only 200ft, but there are some 5300ft hills to go over and down again. thats around a 3,000ft climb. thats a lot, when you consider most of the climb happens in just a few miles

EDIT: previously, we went up to 9,157ft in 24 miles, from 2,400ft

What about Reddington pass? lot's of fun ups and downs and once you get past the shooting range near the entrance you don't see many people. It's all dirt so anyone racing would want to have some good knobby tires.

I like to use USATF - America's Running Routes - Map It to creat your own map, it is pretty simple to use.

I am working on some ideals...hope to have them up soon.

Man this is a lot harder then I thought.

Here is one ideal but I am not too sure about how heavy the traffic would be on Cortaro & Thornydale & Tangerine

Start: (Arthur Pack Reg. Park) West Overton Rd. & Thornydale

South on Thornydale to Cortaro Farms Rd.

West on Cortaro to Silverbell

North on Silverbell to Twin peaks Loop Rd.

West on Twin Peaks to Sandario Rd.

North on Sandario to Avra Valley Rd. (Careful, Avra valley police dept. right on the corner)

East on Avra Valley Rd. to I-10

Then North on Frontage Rd. to Tangerine

East on Tangerine to Thornydale

South on Thornydale back to Artur Park...about 32 miles.
