Default magneto / chain sprocket cover hot hot hot

The 2 covers on the chain sprocket side of the bike are very hot! after a long ride. Iss this normal? is it anything to worry about, apart from being careful not to burn a hole in my leg when i get off!

the engine is mostly aluminum, which transfers heats well
after a long ride, you can get branded touching anywhere

If it's that hot, you may want to check for a lean running condition...or other source of heat.

I have ridden several hours in 80+ degree heat and while the engine/covers were hot, they were never so hot as to cause burns.
