Default Erratic Idle

My engine idle is erratic. I have adjusted the screw both in and out and it seems to have little effect. Even with the screw completely in, the idle sometimes is so low in with the clutch disengaged that it stalls. Other times the engine is screaming at idle. Any tips on how to remedy this? THANKS!

Erratic idle is typically caused by an air leak. But first since it is not only erratic but inconsistent I would take the carb off with the cable hooked up and twist your throttle. Does it snap back nice and bottom all the way? If it does then no problem there. Now on to the air leak. Seal your intake manifold to intake port on your engine with some RTV. Then do the same between your carb and intake manifold or use the correct size o-ring.

It is a silicone product that can be purchased at auto parts stores. It is a sealant. I believe RTV stands for Room Temperature Vulcanizing silicone.
