Default Clutch cable is worn out... Can I use a brake cable?

Title pretty much says what I need help on, but looking over my frayed 3 year old Kings Motor Bike cable I think I should replace it. My way of thinking I could just use a off the shelf bike brake cable...?

A plain old brake cable will do it.
