Default Coaster Brake Dust Cap Mod

Here's a few quick ones from the shop on modifying the dust cap on a coaster brake wheel. You will need to do this or your other option is to bore out the center of the sprocket. This is faster and easier. (not to mention free)

If you are worried that it doesn't work as a "dust cap" anymore, I took apart an older wheel I did this too over 500 miles ago and the grease look just like new!

Before, the part that comes off, and after.

Hold on a bench grinder at a 45 degree angle WITH GLOVES and let it turn slowly until the part comes off. Dress with a file or sandpaper.

Done.

Faster and cheaper than boring the sprocket too.

Here is a another.....

As you can see, the dust cover is bigger then the center of the sprocket



With the center of the sprocket smaller then the dust cover...the sprocket will not fit flush.

Now the dust cover will fit threw the center of the sprocket



And the sprocket will fit flush
