Interperting the law my thoughts

So you have a jack shaft on a bike and you shift gears. To me this is not a transmission. I have never heard someone look at a bicycle and talk about a transmission just gears. The bicycle had gears on it before you put the motor on it and the engine has no transmission. Mopeds in the state of Connecticut must have automatic transmissions but this is a power assisted bicycle and there seems to be a difference to me anyways. If your were not speeding and got a ticket. to me this would be a reasonable argument in court.

Please give your thoughts.

My 3 speed trike is a trike. It is an engine assist. It can go to about 40 if I feel suicidal but I won't go past 20.
Cops just wave at me.
And I got on television with my bicycle that one time. On the trail yet.
