Default How much do Friction Drives Slip in dusty conditions??

From what I read, they do slip,... but I would like more detailed opinions ...

I'm thinking of getting a Friction Drive, with the knurled roller, or a belt drive.

The area I will ride is pretty flat. Mostly paved, but there are a couple miles of gravel.

I intend on still pedaling as much as possible.

heck if it is flat ... get a ryobi 31cc weedeater motor. use a standard bmx type axle peg for a drive and have at it. Darn thing will do 20 to 25mps unassisted on the flat. You will have to pedal on any incline but its good exercise.

I ride on pavement so I can't help you on the slip for dust. Water make it slip. Stay out of the rain but a puddle slips for only a couple of seconds. Thats all i know for sure,.

I had a TAS Spitz front drive/friction drive. I rode it on all surfaces with no problems.
