Default Can't work out the thread layout

I can't get the hang of these threads. If I click on my email URL that tells me about a posting it doesn't take me to that posting - only to the thread. I can't get the last posting to load up and often the last page actually becomes the first page. Why is this? what's happening with these thread layouts and how do I change the settings so I always read down the pages in chronological order?

You have to set the settings. At the top of page click quick links, then edit options, then scoll down to "Thread display options" they are near the bottom....
