80cc Vs 50cc

Default 80cc Vs 50cc

Hey guys, Im not sure if there is a thead like this alreaddy i cant find it.
Well im looking at making a new MT and im lookin at getting the 80/66cc kit.
Is there much difference between the 80 and the 50?
performance wise? and also maintanace is there any difference?

the first build i ever did i bought the 50cc.it was cool and plenty of power until i built a buddy a bike and he ordered the 80cc.i would have to pedal up hills as he passed me without any help.thats when i sold my 50 and ordered the 80. i say go with the 80cc.if you buy the 50 you will wish you had an 80. hope this helps.

There's been a few threads on this:

49cc or 80cc kit

Bottom line: 69cc (not really 80cc) just has more potential. You'll need to modify either, so best to start with the largest displacement.

I have the 80/60 it takes a 200lbs man up a steep hill, no sweat and it probably helps to have that extra power to reduce engine strain .

The main differences are that the larger engine has more torque and will pull better. However in many localities the 48 cc is legal while the "80" cc isn't. Most people count on the fact that the cops can't tell the difference. I suspect that the law won't stay stupid forever so I run the 48 cc just in case. It is fast enough for me anyway.
