Re: Articles written about motorbicycling.com This is just a thought regarding the effort to get articles about motorbicycling
or motorized bicycles into print.
Often publisher guidelines request original photos or illustrations which depict
the topic. Generally a photo which shows a product, the product in use,
and the "talent" or the people using the product for it's relevant social appeal
or benefit of the product they are enjoying.
I'd encourage the vendors here to make some photos available as open source
in a gallery on their web sites. (using well lit photos of their motor(s) etc on display on a table,
in it's shipping package, with people installing it on a bicycle in a nice clean home shop environment,
and riding the finished bike thru environments which include scenic/nature, campus/highschool, recreation/leisure, health/sports and so forth ) Any press release information they could
post may also be of benefit to the writers as well when they site references and or sources.
Motorbicycling.com could also assist by generating some open source PR photos to help
in the effort of writing articles which are publishable. Good forum categories to generate
those from would be in the "Welcome Forums" and "The Tavern". Some of the more unique
bicycle builds including the replicas of vintage motorcycles, racers, cargo bikes, or side cars
and wagons could generate some intrigue for an editor. Standard and Classic bikes should
also be included as examples of first builds for those who have no knowledge of this hobby.
Above all there should be information and testimonials of fuel milage. In our contest section
under "Welcome" do we have a highest milage challenge ? An alternate vehicle that could
get 150mpg was what brought me to Motorbicycling.com last summer when fuel was $4.00+
a gallon. No doubt an article like that in the right places could bring some attention here
and to the vendors here as well as bring in some more people with their talents.
Typical guidelines for writers of articles may look like what is presented below. The magazine
it's actually taken from was modified to use for the expample below.
Please give this some thought as riding weather is always in for some on the forum and winter for the others. Now's as good a time as any to begin with this.
