Default Hybrid tax credit

A customer who came into the shop last week with a Toyota hybrid was telling me how she got a three thousand dollar tax credit for buying a Hybrid.
The definition of a Hybrid is a vehicle with two distinct power sources. It doesn't say what that power source has to be. So a motorized bike has pedal power and motor power. That is two distinct power sources, so I say it is a Hybrid.

According to the IRS, a Hybrid is gasoline power and electric power. The IRS has a list of approved hybrids.
Now, someone with a electric bike might have a better chance then a motorized bicycle. But just think if we can get the IRS to approve motorized bikes and electric bikes as hybrids.
Also, some states are a little more relaxed when it comes to registering hybrids. As you know, some people are having a hard time getting there MB on the road. If you can get your MB to be consider a hybrid, it might make it easier to register. Any thought's?

Cannot get correct link to work..type "qualified hybrid vehicle" in the search on top of page.
