Default Base Schwinn

Nothing special, but I got my fenders today, and thought it looked nice. I still need to get some lock nuts for the fender struts, so they're not really installed, but it's too cold to ride anyway.

I'm not a welder, and I don't have a big budget, so it's nothing special. I just gotta represent for the people who just want to build something on the cheap that runs good and looks nice.

I admire the welders and fabricators, but you can fun and build a cool motorbike without those skills. Your Schwinn looks great.

Lookin' good Nougat,
Ya gotta love the simplicity of those dept. store Schwinns. They lend themselves well to motorizing. Congratulations; nice job.

**** I have a welder compressors and various other implements of destruction, and all I'd do to that bike if it were mine would be to paint the tank and fenders either white or orange, slide the tank forwards a tiny bit, and change the bars because I can't stand my grips not being level.

Looks good. Ride the **** outta it and enjoy.

Thanks for the comments.

Yeah the bars drive me crazy. I'm gonna come up with bars before spring. It's like standing behind a plow.

I've got the tank where it is so that all the gas will flow out of it. If I put it further forward, the front tips down because of the top bar. I need to figure out how to shim up the front of the tank so that I can move it forward. It's on my list.

I think I kind of like the black trim look. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't get a black engine kit to go with it.

I'm sure I'll post up another picture or two after I get the bars and tank done.

Heh, wouldn't that just burn off? And since I'm not interested in taking it apart to paint it, there would be a lot of taping to do, and surely overspray ... but it's not out of the question. At the very least, I could pull the clutch and magneto covers off, and paint those black.

Nice build man - and TBH yer better off painting the engine yerself. The "factory" paint jobs leave a LOT to be desired - you'll get a heck of a lot better look from a rattle-can of 'Dupli Color' engine enamel and some tape

Just be sure to degrease the surface with acetone first and you'll be set.

Use BBQ. paint.

If it will stay on a barbi at full temp,

It will stay on your motor...Pops
