Drive chain sprocket

I finally recieved my 80CC engine this week and found that the chinese engrs.should never write the instructions!!Basically the bike is finished and looks A #1 but I have two problems that I can't seem to solve the first is the fact that when I tried to install the drive chain IT BINDS Against the engine block and I can see where the chain clearance is too close! Problem # 2 is that none of the color coded wiring matchs except the black.I finally just walked away until maybe someone can help me

Welcome to the forum...someone may be able to give you more insight to the sprocket problem. I have only heard of it once before. I think you could dremel out the area that the chain rubs on, but I'd wait for a more intelligent answer to that one.

Color coded wires....Blue to green or blue. Black to black. White wire is to be capped off and set out of the way as to not be grounded out, it's a wire to run a light with.

I've had the same problem. If the chain is rubbing against housing you need to grind down housing a little. It may also be rubbing against housing because the teeth on the sprocket are not seated. Lay your chain on a flat surface, take your sproket and roll it down the chain. If it pulls the chain up, grind the corners off the teeth a little. Do this until the sproket runs freely through the chain.

Al I'll check out the grinding idea,guess I'll have to remove the drive sprocket first then use a dremel.

Does the chain rub when wrapped on the engine sprocket only? If it rubs when wrapped around both engine and wheel sprocket it's chain line alignment.

I noticed on my engine that the sprocket is not symmetrical. I.E. the teeth are not ground on the centerline of the hub. If the sprocket were reversed on the clutch spindle the teeth would move away from the housing. Maybe yours is similar?

Al,I used the dremel and ground the small flange behind the drive sprocket and although not perfect it seems to work alot better,I'll finish it tomorrow,I've learned to walk away sometimes Cliff880
