Chain tensioner "suggestions"

Discussion at Motorized Bicycle Engine Kit Forum in the Motor Bicycle Safety forum. My original tensioner never went anywhere...but it has a #10 hardened bolt tapped into the wheelstay nonetheless....

I knew after my first look at the kit tensioner that it was going in the scrap bin. Since every chain stay seems to have a different diameter and angle I custom machine one for every build out of 6061 Aluminum, and add a good quality skate board wheel and bearings.

John,
I so much admire the quality of your work. That is just beautiful. I wish they were available for all of us.

Thanks Silverbear. Where do you live in Northern Minn. Years ago we used to go to Leech lake every summer. I really liked it up there! Haven't been there for several years.

I'm north of Leech Lake by a good ways. I live about 30 miles south of the Canadian border near the Boundary Waters Canoe wilderness and within the Superior National Forest, midway between Tower and Ely and next to Bearhead State Park. All this is about a hundred miles inland from Lake Superior at Duluth. I live not far from Lake Vermilion, which you may have heard of, and in the middle of the four Eagles Nest Lakes. I am fortunate to live in beautiful country. Good fishing down at Leech Lake I hear. I've called Minnesota home since 1947 when I was two years old. I still find it the most alluring place on the planet and remain in awe of our having over 12,500 lakes here, most of them in the northernmost part of the state. Its a good place to visit and an even better place to live. Cold, long winters, though.

I wonder if you could weld an alternator bracket onto the frame like that nice blue bike in first post...that looked like the best setup I have seen. Junk yard is full of them brackets probably get thrown away.
