Just finished my second build for my first customer...Thanks Kent =)

Kent went with a Nirve frame, 3 speed hub and a Sick Bike Parts shift kit.

The shift kit is DA SHNITZ ...way to go Sick Bike Parts!!!

The shift kit is well worth the money, the bike hauls ASS! Can start from a dead stop in first gear. Second for general cruizin' and 3rd scared the crap outta me. Wouldn't take it to top speed without a helmet!

The shift kit might be a bit difficult for a novice as I had to do some milling on the clutch cover and had to build a custom front motor mount. Front mount also took some shimming to get it right so there wasn't too much or too little slack in the chain from the shift kit to the pedal sprocket. It was a fun build none the less.

Anyway, here's some piccys.

Hey does anyone have advice on welding on these thin mufflers im thinking of MIG welding it on a really low setting or do you think oxyacetylene welding will look nicer? i want to make a custom pipe instead of the regular bent pipe that comes stock

I haven't got my bike together yet, but I was thinking of clever names to put on the tank.
I'm looking to copy the Harley Symbol but instead make the sticker say "Hardly Davidson" or "Barely Davidson". What do you think? Someone has probably thought of this before. What other clever play on names are out there?

This is the second bike I've built completely from scratch. The first one I built that used a 20" rear tire didn't fulfill my need for speed so this one has a complete jack-shaft kit with a 5 speed rear wheel and suicide shifter. This bike is also obviously a kick start only.

Now I realize that I have broke the rules a little bit and was unable to keep the peddle part of the bike...so technically speaking its just a tiny motorcycle. I haven't got an actually speed on the bike but I'm guessing about 45-50 kmh on 20" tires.

I still have to tear it back down and paint it. The bike has a full lighting system running off of a small 12V battery. I want to upgrade the rear brake to a disc but haven't quite figured out how to hook up the disc to the wheel yet though.

Anyways, I'll post the finished bike pics in a week or 2. Comments, questions and criticism are always welcome.

Here’s my long term project, just something to pass the time in my shop. I guess you could call it a board tracker, but I think it’s a little short for that title. It’s an early post war frame I got for $20 and the forks are repop Monark springer. I’ve only gotten to this mock up stage so far, but plans are for a pair of drum brake wheels (black) wrapped in felt tires (cream) and maybe a custom seat. The engine is a 66cc GT5, ported cylinder , coated piston with a shortened skirt, balanced crank and aluminum rod, top hat clutch mod, single “boost bottle”, port matched intake, RSM billet head, Billet clutch actuator, and a few other things I really don’t want to talk about J. I’d love to take it to Death Race next year.

Pea soup headlight

In another thread I posted a pic of the bullet type headlight that's slated to go on my Riff Raff bike...but...I was looking at it, and some other lights I have, last night thinking it just isn't doing it for me. That's not to mention that just about every custom bike I've seen lately uses one too.

So..

I have this NIB 5" round 6 volt sealed beam headlight assembly kicking around my shop and it looks the part but it is a little bit too large looking on the OD in comparison to the bike it's going on and too it sucks up 18 watts of power which of course presents some other problems that I care not to deal with. Now I was quickly looking over a 6v flashlight at a dollar store the other day, more out of interest in the bulb than anything, and then this morning I got looking at a pea soup can that was sitting on the counter waiting to get tossed in the recycle bin when the idea of mating the pea soup can with the dollar store flashlight came to mind. I went out to the dollar store this morning and bought the 6 volt flashlight :o

The lens on the flashlight is 4" and with the yellow plastic shroud it's about 4 1/4" OD in total which is about right in terms of light size matching bike size. The lens assembly fits inside the soup can just about perfect too...so...in the spirit of the apple juice can gas tank we might as well have a pea soup can headlight :D

Will post pics of how it all comes together...

This is the next build I have started. This bike will be built for speed. The motor will have the largest CC's I can find. I will be porting the head and installing a larger carb, I will also be building a custom expansion chamber. I have posted some early pictures.

Need a few Painting Tips

Hi I got a yamaha enduro 60 tank for my bike. I have it sanded down to bare metal. I'm getting ready to bondo in some dings etc in it. That part isn't to hard. I just wanted to know about any metal prep before I start primering it. Maybe best spray can primer? I planned on using Krylon black for the base color and after that trying to mask up something not ugly. Any easy shortcuts for pinstriping?
