We are having a positive impact and being appreciated in our communities. Even if it's just making people smile!

I know that in the case of the bicycle community we're not exactly the bee's knees in a lot of cases. The motorcycle community is quite another story judging from my recent experience.

Aug 30th '09 The Vintage Motorcycle Enthusiest Club put on their 27th annual Isle of Vashon TT held on Vashon and Maury Islands WA State. A 28 mile loop around the island gathering a card at each of 5 stops to assimilate a poker hand for the raffle at the Sportsmens Club. About a thousand m/c's show up each year I would guess. People that live on the Island enjoy the event, come out to see the bikes, and love the business that it brings!

I had been to this event many times on motorcycles. This year I decided to ride the mb! Went over for the day had a great time and became the 1st motorbicycle to circle the Island TT. People were amazed; many motorcyclists pulled up next to me to clock my speed! Top speed was "oh $#!+" mph coasting/pedaling down sw Cedarhurst rd trying to keep up w/ some m/c's on the north end of the Island. Vashon is a hilly Island and not for the faint of heart on bicycle or mb (did someone say gravel, bumps and potholes).

Was supposed to meet up w/ some guys from the Forum; they came over on a much later ferry. I managed to say hi to one of them after I had looped the Island. They were just starting on the loop. Never saw 'em back at the Sportsmans Club. Was good to see 'em though!

This month the newsletter came out w/ pics from the rally and in the center spread there's a picture of me on my 2smoke 'racer (4th pic below top center)! Out of 1000 or so bikes, many vintage and rare, FireBelly got his picture in the newsletter! What An Honor! It wasn't me or the bike per se. It was the whole thing. It was some guy on a vintage lookin' bicycle w/ an engine strapped to it looping a 28 mile hilly island TT course! The response was nothing short of amazement. Many smiles were shared. And that, for me, is what it's all about!

I got inspired by someone who posted a thread about them going on sunday rides during sunrise.
Let me tell you I pretty much had every road to myself. It was sweeeeet. I had no idea it was so cold and wasnt prepared for it. My destination was Sentential Peak " A Mountain" (first time every going to the top) and once I got to the top I took 20 minutes unthawing my hands and after I took a few pictures. That was my adventure this morning. Im pretty sure my motor is broken in now. It hauls. STOKED :)

well as many kids like us too. we went for are first ride, on our mb finally i felt it was time! and of curse i had that thought of my wife trying to tell me that these bikes are dangerous and he will get hurt! but he listened to me! We went around town for ten miles and it was nice having my own son riding on the side of me doiong something together! he is going to be all right riding by himself! i just want four more rides just to make sure! And of curse he wants his mb to go faster than 22 mph so if anyone has a 24 tooth sprocket let me know so he can get going alittle faster than his current! thanks all later WIllir.ly.

Eight Hour ride turns into Two Days.

It was a Satureday Morning, and my buddy Wayne came pulling up the driveway. He had been takinig all summer about going to Timmins, or Stugen Falls. So he asked me to go for a ride with him to Stugen Falls, I told him I would ride till the end of the city of Sudbury.
Well we got to Coniston, by there, next was,Wannipitai, this is as far as I wanted to go! I went passed there. Oh well it is the long weekend I might as well go for a ride. We road for two hours before we decided to stop for lunch, wow we made it to Warren before noon! Well Sturgen Falls here we go. After gassing up our bikes we continiued untill we got to Stugen Falls. Finnally got a Tim Hortins Coffee, wow we made it, not far from NorthBay now! "Well we came this far we might as well go to Northbay!"
We get to a small store at the beginning of Nippissing Reservation, there is an old rail road bed that goes the rest of the way to Northbay, about 20 miles. We had gone about 10 miles when Wayne got a flat. We had spare gas, tools galore, no tubes or patch kit! So I decided to continue on to Northbay to get repair suppies, I got lost. Took a little time but found a Canadian Tire(huge) and got tubes, air pump, gas can, oil and munchies. On the way back to where Wayne was aparently I passed him, I went all the way to the beginning of the rail bed, talked to a few people to see if he had gone by, he was not noticed. They had noticed us comming in, so I figured I must have passed him some place. I backtracked anouther 10 miles, and found him trying to get a ride to Sudbury, he thought I was going to leave him behind. We repaired the tire and started our trek back to Sudbury. I soon ran out of gas. Whew, that was close glade I got the can and gas in northbay! We made it back to Sturgen Falls and decided to have supper! We end up getting bombarded by spectators and questions about our bikes. Killing almost two hours, we decided enough for the riding it was gonna get dark soon. So we found a motel and did a small walking tour of the town, main stop being Tim Hortons. Once reasted and cleaned up we started our trek home after a breakfast at the Timmys! We were on the road for about an hour and decided to try to take a deture, no real idea were we were going to end up. It was fantastic, we had the road to ourselves going by fields and farm houses. Must have ridden about an hour and I started to worrie about where we were going, so it became a smoke break and map read time, as well as gas! We started going again and descovered we were too far south. So we headed north on the next what looked to be a hiway, at least compared to what we were on. It turned out to be the right choice and ended in the small town of Verner. It was here we discovered the beginning of the Old Hi-way 17, fantastic another section of road all to ourselves. This lasted over an hour till we got to Warren! Our first lunch stop the other day. wow just a couple of hours to go. We went along the hy-way till we got to Wannipitai. Here we stopped for lunch this time. Subway for Lunch, and once more we find anouther road to ourselves. At least this one took me right home. It took two whole gallons of gas for me, I filled my tank up four complete times. While Wayne filled up at almost every time we stopped.
We had made this trip on Labourday weekend.

Went for a ride the other day in Litchfeild CT near White Memorial state park
White Memorial Conservation Center, Litchfield, CT (http://www.whitememorialcc.org/)
Nice country roads and lots of nice views along the way. It's one of my favorite places to ride. Where I live there a LOT of steep hills. So I put my MB on a bike rack and drive it to the park, then ride the roads all around it. There are some cyclist in the Spring/Summer have not seen one other MB'er yet. Get curious looks/smiles from motorist and the random pedestrian. Have had a few people talk to me about the bike.

[True Story]
My favorite was a conversation with women who was watching me pull up to my car after a ride, she was parked next to me and looked like she had just got back from a run.

Her "That's a motor, on a Bike"

Me "yes mam it is"

Her "I've never seen that"

Me "Well mam, now, in fact you have."

Her, Slowly shaking her head "That's Just Crazy"

Me, hefting my MB onto the bike rack "Crazy good or Crazy bad?"

Her, "I don't know, I haven't decided yet......."

Me, "Funny, that's what my wife says too"

Her, "laughing"

Me, "Have a good day"

Her, "You too."
