Return spring?

So my kit came with two springs that I have only partially identified. The larger one is a heat shield for the clutch cable, and I found a reference to the smaller spring as the "return spring" and a description as "Small spring between clutch arm and Clutch screw base," but I don't know what that means or if I need to install it before I run the bike or just keep it as a replacement.

Some explanation would be much appreciated.

the larger one you figured out. it goes over the plastic sheathing on the cable to protect it from the heat.

the smaller one goes into the trash.

seriously.

all it does is make your clutch harder to pull and hurts your fingers. the clutch arm will return just fine without it.

I always save mine. They come in handy when the one in your ball point pen breaks.

Seriously, do as Baird said. Don't use it; unless you like a stiff clutch.
Keep the clutch actuating mechanism well lubricated and there's no need for a return spring on the cable.
