chrome plating on aluminum doesn't last no matter what. end of story. get a new top end and move on because it's no ones fault

I think dust and dirt since its the inlet side. Wore away the plating that was probably marginal in the first place.

The marks on the crank are just chinese QC marks. There might be one piece of dirt there on the right side...

Caused by the skilled operater placing the crank wheels carefully in the parts bin when finishing each one.

As for the cracked piston? Maybe heat related from the alloy to alloy scuffing.

Or you just got the trifecta, A junk barrell, piston and crank...

Both sides? send it back if it is low miles like you say.

That cracked piston may have started it then the chrome flakes finished it off.

16:1 IS too much oil and can possibly cause a lean condition. What ratio were you running the opti2 at?

Look at some photos of "cold seizure" which is caused by trying to run the engine too hard when it hasn't fully warmed up.

I will add that that is a lot of liner to come off all at once....I would contact the seller if it has/had a warranty.
